Good article on what life is like for the man-on-the-street in Syria. Yet the Shia-Sunni split continues. Yesterday I read an article by a Sunni Syrian who was outraged that Assad’s Shia government had been readmitted to the Arab League. He cited all the atrocities committed by Assad’s forces while failing to mention any of the atrocities committed by Sunni forces. Just a sad story and, as this article points out, these religious differences, backed up by international powers, are just creating misery for all the people who live in Syria, whether Sunni or Shia.
Phil – while there is a Sunni-Shi’ite split – the Chinese encouraged Iranian-Saudi rapproachment is tampering it down …
Hopefully, it will succeed in ending a split that is as stupid as the old Catholic- Protestant wars in Europe/
