Arnie Carter Interviews Nancy Fey and Rob Prince on … Nancy Fey and Rob Prince

Abbie, Molly, Nancy. Caribou Ranch (near Netherland) like, September 2014
So… over the years a number of old friends have urged me or “us” (Nancy and me) to write personal memoirs given the unusual trajectory of our lives. Won’t happen for a number of reasons but, that being the case, several people have asked us for interviews. Here is one by our friend Arnie Carter. Arnie participates in the Romero Troupe, the same “organic theater” group that Molly works with when she has time.
Little more than a sketch, but still…something
The interview was done in our living room on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 in the afternoon.
Arnie Carter’s Interview with Nancy Fey and Rob Prince

From Suomenlinna to Helsinki over the ice on a Sunday in February, 1987. As I recall temperature that day was somewhere between -30 and -40. Nancy, Abbie on the sled, Molly walking alongside.
Really enjoyed listening to this. Also liked the memories of Humphrey’s visit to Tunis and was amazed and appalled to learn the reason for his visit. As you said, we didn’t know that at the time. We just wanted him to know that we Peace Corps volunteers opposed the war in Vietnam and wanted the damn war to stop. I also remember you were the only one who got a sign right in front where Humphrey had to see it. Second point: Since I can’t remember so many things these days I totally identified with your need to ask your students what you had just been lecturing about – and your decision to retire after that experience. Finally, congrats to Ellen, Molly, and Abbie for putting up with one of us old Peace Corps geezers for so many years. Cheers, Phil
And congratulations to “us” for having maintained our friendship over all these years …
I meant Nancy, Molly, and Abbie. As I wrote, I forget things a lot…..Phil
Such a wonderful talk with you and Nancy! I feel I got to know her. You’ve lived a committed, brave life, you two, with your lovely girls. Glad you gave this interview.
We try … then so do you. But thanks anyhow for kind words. Much appreciated
